    Little Steven
Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul

“Summer of Sorcery Live! at The Beacon Theatre” is highlighted by a surprise appearance by the one and only Peter Wolf. In the same fashion, Wolf lends his inimitable vocals to powerhouse versions of J Geils Band’s “Freeze Frame” and Artists United Against Apartheid’s landmark protest anthem, “Sun City.”

Furthermore, the concert kicks off with a very special introduction from counterculture icon Wavy Gravy. It also includes from there traverses across Little Steven’s genre-smashing body of work. From Summer of Sorcery and 2017’s acclaimed solo return, Soulfire, through classic songs and fan favorites from the songwriter, guitarist, and band leader’s illustrious career. Including an incendiary three-song salvo celebrating his work with Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.

With summer just around the corner, Van Zandt is pleased to announce the full two-and-a-half-hour concert. The triumphant hometown culmination of the Summer of Sorcery’s European and U.S. tours will be released July 9 via Wicked Cool Records/UMe.

  • Jxst J releases low-fi single “Alone” ahead of Fall Debut Album

Lo-fi artist Jxst J , releases a new single “Alone” with a hilarious and entertaining music video. Teasing his debut album “How to Pronounce Jxst J.” After spending his formative years in. LA playing in bands and making music videos, the multi-talented artist is now. Brooklyn-based, where he continues his synesthetic approach to music.

    Jxst J

The song “Alone” will have you closing your eyes and bopping your head back and forth as his soothing. voice goes perfectly over his low-fi beats.  Drawing from genres like dream pop, indie, and trip-hop, he seamlessly blends acoustic and. electronic elements for a sound that is as eclectic as it is catchy. He achieves a polychromatic sound that shows off his mix of stretched samples, acoustic instruments, analog synths, and his silky vocals.

As for the music video somehow just goes perfectly with the song easily putting a smile on your face. Although a simple music video, Jxst J is able to make the most out of it making it seem to go flawless with the song. It is most definitely a video that will have you want to watch it every time you listen to the single “Alone.” Jxst J (aka James Pratley Watson.) is a visual artist just as much as he is a musician. Before Jxst J he was recognized for his lo-fi visuals with his band Pratley. Now he is bringing his visual literacy to Jxst J with a trippy, arthouse aesthetic shot primarily on super 8 film

He plans to release a music video with each. song over the summer until the album “How to Pronounce Jxst J” full release this fall.

  • Guided By Voices plan Fall Tour Following Release of 33rd Album

Guided By Voices released their fall tour dates following their newest album Earth Man Blues. Their 33rd album as a band is led by lead singer and principal songwriter Robert Pollard for yet another great rock album. Guided By Voices fall tour is one with much anticipation.

    Guided By Voices Fall Tour
    Guided By Voices

The album follows Harold Admore Harold through coming of age and reckoning with darkness. Even without the story of Harlold Admore Harold this album will definitely bring you back to your youth. Songs such as “Ant Repellent,” “Wave Starter,” and “Margaret Middle School” solid riffs and sounds will bring you back to a time when rock was prominent. They do this of course while still keeping their old 80’s indie-rock sound, and keeping listeners on their toes with each song.

Tickets go on sale on 10am, Friday May 21 and will be available at www.GBV.com/tour.

  • Maddy Walsh & the Blind Spots at the Smith

With the COVID-19 pandemic starting to dissipate, what’s a better way to celebrate than to attend live music at a historic venue (Smith Opera House) with a bold-sounding electric rock band Maddy Walsh & the Blind Spots, a fixture to the Finger Lakes music scene.

    Photo: Whitney Nichols Photography

This performance on June 26th will be in high demand with only 100 tickets on sale (following NYS mandate). Maddy Walsh & the Blind Spots have a rhythm that can’t be beat carried by the classic sounds of an electric guitar that pair perfectly with an upbeat electric keyboard. But the lead vocals, Maddy Walsh, perfectly co-exist with the band’s sounds as her fun lyrics and upbeat voice will have you singing along before you know it.

The Smith Center for Arts has been going strong for over 125 years and has no plan on slowing down. They constantly bring in great artists, such as Maddy Walsh & the Blind Spots, year-round in their historically rich amphitheater.

It is important to note that The Smith will not be filling orders over the phone or in-person at the Box Office. There will be no sales available at the door day of the show.  Tickets can be purchased at thesmith.org.
