  • Robert Plant’s Band Saving Grace Announces 2020 North American Tour, Including Stops in New York

    Robert Plant, Led Zeppelin’s lead singer, announced a 2020 North American tour with his band Saving Grace. The tour will include two stops in New York, one in New York City and the other in Port Chester.

    The tour will start on May 12 in Minneapolis, MN at the Pantages Theatre and ends in Washington, D.C. on May 23 at the Lincoln Theatre. It will stop in Port Chester, NY on May 19 at The Capitol Theatre and in New York, NY on May 20 at The Town Hall. The tour will consist of seven shows in all and will include Catfish Keith as their opener.

    Saving Grace is made up of  Suzi Dian on vocals; Oli Jefferson on percussion; Tony Kelsey on mandolin, baritone and acoustic guitars; Robert Plant on vocals; and Matt Worley on banjo, acoustic and baritone guitars.  The band made its debut back in early 2019 with a number of surprise gigs in small venues across England, Wales and Ireland, and later, a trio of UK dates supporting Fairport Convention. This tour will be its North American debut.

  • Saratoga Springs Welcomes New Venue: Universal Preservation Hall

    Saratoga Springs’s new venue, Universal Preservation Hall, will have its first full month of shows in March, ranging from jazz to comedy to an evening with the celebrity housewives. The venue is a former 1871 Methodist church which has been renovated into a state-of-the-art performance facility.

    The March lineup will start on the 4th with Sounds of the Hall  which will be an evening of jazz music from Chuck Lamb and Friends and the Dylan Perrillo Orchestra. The schedule will wrap up on the 27th with Joey Alexander who is the youngest musician to ever be nominated for a Grammy Award® in a jazz category. There will be performances from a family circus, the Capital Region Thomas Edison Music Hall of Fame Ceremony, an award winning Broadway actress, and many more acts.

  • The Great South Bay Music Festival Announces 2020 Lineup

    The Great South Bay Music Festival announced their 2020 lineup which will include performances from The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Rebelution, The Tedeschi Trucks Band, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, and many more. The festival will take place from July 16-19 across five stages and will include 75 performances. 

    The festival will be celebrating its 14th anniversary at Shorefront Park in Patchogue, NY and will consist of classic and contemporary rock, folk, blues, indy, jam-band, pop, prog, Americana, country, reggae, and funk music. The festival also has a new partnership with Blue Point Brewing Co. The new beverage sponsor will be serving up a wide assortment of their most popular brands, as well as some new “Exclusive Festival” brands to watch out for. 

    Both Friday and Saturday have a loose daily theme. Friday is the rock-reggae-ska day with headliner Rebelution, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones (who are returning for their second appearance at Great South Bay), Pepper, Sublime Tribute: Badfish, and Oogee Wawa. And Saturday is the jam band day with headliner one of The Grateful Dead’s most proud and popular tributes: Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, moe. and Vulfpeck guitarist, composer and producer: Cory Wong. Great South Bay will close on Sunday with the highly anticipated Tedeschi Trucks Wheels of Soul Tour, featuring the full 13-piece band playing a rocking two hour set. There will also be performances by St. Paul & The Broken Bones, as well as Nashville-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Gabe Dixon.

    The festival opens on Thursday, July 16 at 3 pm and runs until 10 pm. On Friday, July 17, doors open at 3 pm and music will go until 11 pm. On Saturday, July 18, doors open at 1 pm and close at 11 pm. And the festival will wrap up on Sunday, July 19 with doors opening at 2 pm and finishing up at 10 pm.   • The Bad Plus Announce 2020 Spring Tour, Including Multi- Show Residency in New York City

    The American jazz trio The Bad Plus confirmed their 2020 spring tour following the release of their second album, ACTIVATE INFINITY, which was released in October of 2019. The spring tour will include a multi-show residency at Village Vanguard in New York City for six consecutive days.

    The tour will begin on March 19th in  Kenosha, WI at the Bedford Concert Hall and will wrap up on April 12th in Washington, DC at the Blues Alley. The tour will include multi- show residencies not only in New York City but also in Oakland, CA and Washington, D.C. as well. The New York City residency is taking place at the Village Vanguard on March 24th through the 29th. The Oakland, CA residency will take place at Yoshi’s on April 3rd and 4th. Washington’s residency will take place at the Blues Alley on April 10th through the 12th. 

    The Bad Plus is made up of bassist Reid Anderson, drummer Dave King, and pianist Orrin Evans, hailing from Minneapolis, MN. Their newest album ACTIVATE INFINITY was produced by The Bad Plus themselves and engineered and mixed by Andy Taub at NYC’s Brooklyn Recording back in May of 2019.

  • The 2020 Rock and Roll Playhouse Includes Multiple Shows in New York

    The Rock and Roll Playhouse has expanded to include even more dates across the United States, including many in New York City. The performances will also make their way to Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, Cubby Bear in Chicago, The Varsity Theater in Minneapolis, and Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, CA. 

    The Rock and Roll Playhouse is a family-minded live event series that tries to find new ways to inspire creativity and particularly foster a relationship between children and music. It’s a national concert series that gives back to local communities. The program has donated to the Can’d Aid Foundation’s Tunes Programs, VH-1 Save the Music Foundation, and Keep the Music Alive, as well as ticket donations to local school fundraisers and auctions.

  • The Allman Brothers’ 50th Anniversary Tribute Show Unite at MSG in March.

    The Brothers, also known as the surviving members of The Allman Brothers Band, are set to perform a tribute at Madison Square Garden(MSG) for the bands 50th anniversary, to take place on March 10.

    The Brothers are made up of Jaimoe, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Oteil Burbridge, and Marc Quinones, with Duane Trucks, Reese Wynans, and Chuck Leavell. Although there are no Allman’s attached to the end of any names, this tribute is about honoring the band, Duane, Gregg, Berry and Butch, and the great music they created. 

    Jaimoe Johanson is the drummer, Warren Haynesis and Derek Trucks are on guitarist, Oteil Burbridge backs the  bass, and Marc Quinones on percussion. All support the last Allman lineup and are the surviving members of the band, minus Betts who “had prior commitments that prevented him from attending,” said his manager, David Spero, according to Rolling Stone’s article.

    Duane Trucks, Derek’s brother and the nephew of late Allman founding drummer Butch, will be filling in on drums. Reese Wynans will be playing organ, known for being in the pre-Allman band, Second Coming. Chuck Leavell will be joining as a pianist, a former member of the band back in the Seventies.

    It’s undecided who will handle Allman’s vocals yet, but it is sure to be one hell of an anniversary show. The show will take place at 7:30pm and tickets are available directly from Madison Square Garden, or via Ticketmaster.

  • Brooklyn Comes Alive Announces March Festival and Lineup

    Brooklyn Comes Alive announced it will be back for the fifth time on Saturday, March 21, 2020.

    The festival will take place at Avant Gardner, a multistage complex located at 140 Stewart Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11237. The location is an 80,000 square foot facility that takes up an entire city block in Brooklyn’s Bushwick neighborhood. The location includes two indoor stages, Great Hall and Kings Hall.

    The festival will include many acts including Oteil & Friends, Turkuaz, Birds of a Feather (feat. Members of Pigeons Playing Ping Pong & Goose), The Motet, Dr. Klaw, Robert Randolph & Friends, Anomalie / Deitch / MonoNeon, Here Come The Mummies, SPAGA Plays The Dead and Karina Rykman. Brooklyn Comes Alive will also include late-night sets by electronic music producer Jade Cicada, and a rare Beats Antique DJ set featuring founding members and longtime collaborators David Satori and “Sidecar” Tommy Cappel at the Great Hall Starting at midnight and running until 4am.

  • Consider the Source Announces Plans for New Hybrid Album and Tour Dates For 2020

    Instrumental trio, Consider the Source, announced plans for an Acoustic/Electric Hybrid Album which is due to be released sometime in 2020. The trio also announced tour dates for the new year which includes a stop in Brooklyn. 

    Consider the Source originated in New York City and is a Sci-Fi Middle Eastern Fusion band who has been performing for over ten years in the United States and overseas in Turkey, Israel, Germany and more. This album would be their first studio recording exclusively featuring their acoustic/electric “Hybrid” setup. The band is attempting to raise $25,000 for the album for recording, mixing and mastering, printing CDs and Vinyl. The financial backing available ranges from an advanced digital download for $15 to a private hybrid performance for $2000. 

    The 2020 Meta tour dates start in Portland Maine on Feb. 28 at the Portland House of Music and wrap up on April 4 in Roanoke, VA at the 5 Point Music Sanctuary. There is a stop in Brooklyn at the Knitting Factory on March 7. The tour will focus on performing their entire album You Are Literally A Metaphor.

  • Larkin Poe Announces 2020 Tour Dates

    The Nashville-based sister duo, Larkin Poe, announced their 2020 world tour including a stop in Webster Hall in New York City. The tour officially starts in March at North Little Rock, AR’s University of Arkansas – Pulaski Technical College and wraps up in April with stops across the globe. Dates also exist in February through July on this tour.

    Larkin Poe has a GRAMMY® Award-nominated album Venom & Faith in the Best Contemporary Blues category. The tour announcement follows on the coattails of their video for “MISSISSIPPI” released on December 17. Larkin Poe is currently working on their next album which is due to drop sometime in 2020.

    Larkin Poe will be stopping at Webster Hall in New York City on April 2. The tour includes stops all across the United States.
