{"id":246,"date":"2018-03-27T15:00:55","date_gmt":"2018-03-27T15:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.nysmusic.com\/2018\/2018\/03\/27\/aqueous-gets-tiny\/"},"modified":"2018-03-27T15:00:55","modified_gmt":"2018-03-27T15:00:55","slug":"aqueous-gets-tiny","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.nysmusic.com\/2018\/2018\/03\/27\/aqueous-gets-tiny\/","title":{"rendered":"Aqueous Gets Tiny"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The past few years have seen <a href=\"https:\/\/nysmusic.com\/site\/2019\/10\/31\/in-focus-aqueous-and-lespecial-storm-putnam-place\/\">Aqueous<\/a> grow from a well known local act out of Buffalo to a band with some national recognition.\u00a0 Constant touring and hard work will do that.\u00a0 However, while the venues and acclaim may both be trending upwards, for the band&#8217;s submission in this year&#8217;s Tiny Desk Contest, Aqueous has stripped it down to the roots of being a fledgling band with a performance of &#8220;Underlyer&#8221; that was filmed in a grimy basement, helping give new meaning to the term grunge rock.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Aqueous - NPR Tiny Desk Contest 2018 - Underlyer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ce5OyKhW3Uc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The increasingly popular band competition, held by NPR and based on its Tiny Desk Concert series, serves as an open casting call of sorts and a chance for bands\/artists to submit video entries of a stripped-down, NPR-ish performance that takes place behind a desk of some sort.\u00a0 The contest winner gets a chance to really increase their exposure with follow up performances on NPR programs and a corresponding national tour that gets awarded.
