  • Druse Heading Out on East Coast Tour, Including Hometown Show in Rochester

    Rochester’s Druse is taking to the road. They’ll be co-headlining a fall tour with Charleston’s Innerout. The East Coast tour includes shows in Rochester at The Bug Jar on September 28 and The Well in Brooklyn on September 30. This North & South pairing of bands highlights each of their unique talents on the cutting edge of post-hardcore indie rock.

    Delightfully eclectic, to confine Druse to the label of post-hardcore screamo would be a disservice. They defy convention, incorporating elements of melodic metalcore, dreamy shoegaze, and lo-fi grunge to create a sound that has crowds swaying in a trance one moment and moshing the next. Last year’s EP The Way We Ache is their most intricately composed work to date. Emotionally charged lyrics explore the role of pain as part of what it means to be human, and how it ultimately brings us closer to each other.

    Innerout from South Carolina self-identifies as pedalcore, a label that describes the blending of pedal-gazing with post-hardcore. Their sound is tinged with bits of southern flair. Case in point: the country-inspired intro on “Fair Play,” the lead track on their latest release, Say, followed by the echoes of southern rock in the fluidity of some of the guitar riffs throughout the rest of the EP.

    Both bands challenge post-hardcore stereotypes – not content with what it is, but re-imagining what it can be.

  • China Welcomes EVHO Fall Tour

    Long time buds and New York State natives in EVHO, also referred to as Event Horizon, are no strangers to piling in the van and hitting the touring circuit across the states, building unique relationships with each venue and band they come in contact with. This time, touring will point them towards fresh horizons as they swap the tour bus for a cross-country flight. The prog rockers will embark on their very first, out-of-the-country tour in China where language barriers and a diverse lifestyle await them.
    With a stacked, 14-date tour, the quartet will explore territories unknown and show off their talents to a completely unique audience who already seem to have a leg up on recent Event Horizon tunes. Drawing from musical influences like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink Floyd, The Mars Volta, Circa Survive and more, John Clark (vocals/guitar), Craig Podell (bass), Mars Vendz (lead guitar) and Parke O’Leary (drums), nailed the ability to fuse together groovy, progressive sounds and exploration with the fundamentals of hard-hitting rock, guitar solos, modern electronica and a booming voice to the forefront of their performances.
    After forming life-long friendships, playing together for 16+years and becoming the musical celebrities of their hometown, EVHO has been riding the growing wave to morning show appearances and talk show drop-ins across the country. Having recently released From the Sun and its single “Ricochet,” the four look to making unique memories for their first visit to China.

    Their first gig will kick off tonight in Hangzhou, run for a two-week time span and conclude on September 8 in Suzhou. Be sure to catch these guys upon their return to the U.S. and be on the lookout for their fall tour updates on social media!

  • Dark Star Orchestra Expands on Fall Tour to Include East Coast Dates, Including 20th Anniversary Show in Albany

    Dark Star Orchestra rolled out more 2017 tour dates. The newly added East Coast performances include a handful of shows in New York, including DSO’s 20th anniversary celebration on November 11 at the Palace Theatre in Albany. The fall dates lead up to a Cosmic New Year’s Run which includes three nights at Philly’s Electric Factory from December 29 through New Year’s Eve.   • Trey Anastasio Band Fall Tour with Halloween Show

    Trey Anastasio will bring his solo band on a six-night fall tour in Las Vegas and California in late October where the tour includes a Halloween show at the Wiltern in Los Angeles.

    Trey Anastasio continues to keep his solo band busy. With four shows already scheduled in mid-September in Northern New England and New Brunswick, he recently announced a string of shows out west in October and November. The tour kicks off with two nights at the Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas on Oct. 27 and 28. It continues on Halloween at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, only the fourth time the Trey Anastasio Band has played the holiday, the last time being two years ago. He hits up the Observatory OC in Santa Ana, California the next night on Nov. 1. After a night off to travel north, he finishes up his tour with two nights at the Fox Theater in Oakland, California on Nov. 3 and 4.

    In addition to those dates, he also has a pair of orchestral dates in late September in Nashville and Atlanta.

    Tickets for the fall tour are currently available through a realtime pre-sale, which ends Wednesday, Aug. 23. They go on sale to the general public on Friday, Aug. 25.

  • Bruce Springsteen Makes His Broadway Debut

    Bruce Springsteen will make his Broadway debut in his “Springsteen on Broadway” run of shows in New York City. The marathon run of shows takes place throughout October and November.

    Bruce Springsteen will play a total of 39 shows as part of his “Springsteen on Broadway” run of shows at New York City’s 960 seat Walter Kerr Theatre. The intimate shows will combine stories and music from his career, which began with 1973’s Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ. Springsteen is quoted on the “Springsteen on Broadway” website:

    “I wanted to do some shows that were as personal and as intimate as possible. I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theaters which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind. In fact, with one or two exceptions, the 960 seats of the Walter Kerr Theatre is probably the smallest venue I’ve played in the last 40 years. My show is just me, the guitar, the piano and the words and music. Some of the show is spoken, some of it is sung. It loosely follows the arc of my life and my work. All of it together is in pursuit of my constant goal to provide an entertaining evening and to communicate something of value.” 

    While “The Boss” has kept busy over the course of his career, last year was a big year for him with The River Tour 2016 being named the top global tour according to both Billboard and Pollstar, the release of his memoir Born to Run and its companion album Chapter and Verse in September and being awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in November.

    Previews for “Springsteen on Broadway” begin on Oct. 3. The official opening is Oct. 12. The shows take place Tuesday through Saturday at 8 p.m. with a final performance on Sunday, Nov. 26 at 3 p.m. to make up for taking Thanksgiving Day off. The show is expected to last approximately two hours.

    Tickets for “Springsteen on Broadway” are being sold through Ticketmaster’s VerifiedFan program and go on sale at 10 a.m. on Aug. 30. Fans wishing to attend the shows must register with Ticketmaster by 10 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27. Verified fans will be confirmed on Tuesday, Aug. 29 and will receive a special code by text message on Wednesday, Aug. 30 prior to the 10 a.m. on sale time.

  • McLovins 2017 Fall Tour Stops in NYC, Rochester, Hannibal

    The McLovins dropped some initial tour dates for fall 2017, including three stops in New York this month including a stop at New York City’s Mercury Lounge for a Phish Baker’s Dozen after party.

    Hailing from Hartford, Connecticut, the McLovins have been making waves since their start in 2009 playing alongside big names in music like the Gin Blossoms, Buddy Guy and George Porter, Jr. They’re currently working on two EPs as a followup to their 2015 self-titled album McLovins, which should be released this fall.

    The McLovins fall tour starts tomorrow for a Phish Baker’s Dozen after party at the Mercury Lounge in New York City. The tour takes them up and down the eastern seaboard with several dates in Georgia and Alabama, closing out at Milkboy in Philadelphia on Nov. 22. In addition to tomorrow’s show, they play two other shows in New York. They hit up the Photo City Improv in Rochester on Aug. 17 and play the Big “G” Jam in Hannibal on Aug. 19. They also make a stop in nearby Erie, Pennsylvania on Aug. 12 at the Kings Rook Club.

  • Swimmer Dives into Second Pool of Summer Tour Dates

    There’s only one way to cool yourself down on these thermal, mid-summer nights and that’s to let loose and do some swimmin’. Vermont outfit, Swimmer, resides just a stone’s throw away from New York in the jam-centered, musical hub that is Burlington, VT. As a well-known Burlington band having held an impressive residency slot at Nectar’s and previously opening up for the likes of Dopapod, the quintet made it a point to splash into unexplored territories, cities and states in order to further their rising presence in the jam community.

    Welcoming the conception of their first-ever U.S. tour, the guys already completed stint one with stops across the Northeast. They hit NY specifically, with a July 2 show at Silvana in Harlem and a July 7 gig at Arlene’s Grocery in NYC before they dipped their toes into WV, NC, VA and DC. Their second voyage will see more NY dates, beginning with back-to-back stops at Plattsburgh’s Retro Live on Aug. 3 and Buffalo’s Neitzsche’s on Aug. 4 while gearing up to make their first appearance out West in Muncie, IN, Boulder and Denver, CO. They’ll return to MA and ultimately their Burlington swim hole for an appropriate tour closer at Nectar’s and a festival stop at Beaver Fest from Aug. 25-26.

    Heavily influenced by artists such as Phish, Frank Zappa and The Disco Biscuits, Joe Agnello (guitar/vocals), Matt Dolliver (keys/saxophone), Cotter Ellis (drums/vocals), Paul Klein (guitar) and Jack Vignone (bass), encompass an encyclopedia of jam, progressive and experimental rock styles, blending them together to create a waterfall of elements all their own. Troy Rosenberg was recently introduced to the Swim team to manage stellar light shows to supplement Swimmer’s engaging and improvisational live performances.

    Summer tour has given Swimmer the platform to promote their latest album, No Shape. The release compiles tunes they’ve been delighting fans with for quite some time, such as “Undercover Junkie,” while introducing fresh tunes for fans to float in, like fan-favorite “Godmeat” and “Schwack,” featuring Nate Reit on trumpet. No Shape gives any new swim-fan an in-depth look as to what the group is all about. As any jam band fan would explain, the full experience resides within the magical atmosphere of their live shows. The band’s ability to roll out extensive jams within any given song makes for a unique gig each night, always keeping the crowd fully engaged with a toss up of treats.   • Mike Gordon Announces ‘OGOGO’ and Fall Tour with Stop in Syracuse

    Mike Gordon is putting the final touches on his newest studio album, OGOGO, set to be released in September. He will head out on a fall tour with the current lineup of his solo band. The 17 night tour kicks off on Sept. 22 in Athens, Georgia and includes a stop at Syracuse’s Westcott Theater.

    mike gordon ogogo tourPhish bassist, Mike Gordon, has been keeping busy with the new lineup of his solo band. His fifth studio album, OGOGO, will be released on Sept. 15. The first track, “Steps,” is available for streaming now and can be heard in the video below.

    Gordon will also take his current solo band out on a 17 night tour that kicks off on Friday, Sept. 22 at the Georgia Theatre in Athens, Georgia. The tour makes a stop on Friday, Sept. 29 at the Westcott Theater in Syracuse. The only other stop in the Northeast is at New Haven, Connecticut’s College Street Music Hall on Wednesday, Sept. 27. The tour closes out with a two-night stand at the Boulder Theater in Boulder, Colorado on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 13 and 14. Gordon’s band includes Scott Murawski on guitar, Robert Walter on keyboards, John Kimock on drums, and Craig Myers on percussion.

    Tickets for the tour are available now via a real-time pre-sale, which ends Thursday, July 13 at 5 p.m ET. The general on sale date for the tour is this Friday, July 14 at 10 a.m. ET.

  • Space Carnival Drop a Handful of Northeast Summer Show Dates

    Still a bit damp from the sweat and morning dew of Spring Tour, Space Carnival is back at it again this summer with a number of Northeast show dates. Trailing their debut album, Drawn In By The Sun, the wild quartet has put all their time and effort into the touring circuit, hitting up cities throughout both the North East and Midwest. Ready to debut new music this summer, the Ithaca outfit has been focusing on dialing back their tone and working on a slew of new material to bring to fans.
    Woodhenge Music, Art and Sustainability Festival kicked off their string of summer dates on Sunday, June 25 in Adams, NY. New York State up-and-coming artists rolled deep to the solar and wind powered fest, including Formula 5, Lord Electro, Intrepid Travelers, Annie in the Water and Jiggawaltz. After a handful of NY shows, Space Carnival will make a performance debut at American Beauty in NYC for a Phish pre-show on July 29 as part of a Phanart event, showcasing the works of Phish inspired artists and vendors. The free event will go from 3pm-7pm and feature two powerful sets from Space Carnival.
    Space Carnival recently joined NYSmusic’s 87/90, which is a collaborative group of New York bands on the rise with an initiative to grow in the scene among one another. The current roster includes Formula 5, Folkfaces, Cousin Earth, Let’s Be Leonard, Boogie Low, Gowanus, and Intrepid Travelers.   • Folkfaces Announce Extensive 2017 Summer Tour

    Buffalo’s Folkfaces are gearing up for 2017 and their biggest summer tour yet. The extensive tour focus primarily on New York, giving those in the state plenty of opportunities to check them out.

    Buffalo-based Americana quintet Folkfaces has had a busy 2017 and the year is only half over. They released their debut album How Long? back in April while also completing two spring tours. The band consists of Tyler Westcott (guitar, vocals), Dan Borodzik (slide guitar, vocals), Ellen Pieroni (saxophones), Patrick Jackson (upright bass) and Dan Schwach (drums, washboard).

    Folkfaces’ summer tour features over 30 dates throughout New York with stops in five other states and Toronto. The tour kicks off this Wednesday, June 21 at Al’s Wine & Whiskey in Syracuse and closes out at the Night Lights Music Festival in Sherman. The tour primarily brings the band throughout New York with a heavy focus on the western portion of the state for their hometown fans.

    In addition to their own shows, they’ll be sharing the stage with a handful of other bands. They play with Dustbowl Revival on June 28 at Babeville in Buffalo. They’ll join The Tenants on July 14 for a house show in Akron, Ohio on July 14. On July 22, they play the Putnam Den in Saratoga Springs with The North and South Dakotas. The Fredtown Stompers and the Buffalo Brass Machine join them on Aug. 2 at the Tralf in Buffalo. As part of the Buffalo Infringement Festival, they play alongside Swimmer, Minor Racket, Dark Matter Trio and The Funk Theory Extravaganza on Aug. 4 at Nietzsche’s in Buffalo. Nietzsche’s sees them again on Aug. 23 along with Minor Moon and Pine Fever.
