{"id":705,"date":"2015-08-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-08-29T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.nysmusic.com\/2015\/2015\/08\/29\/darius-rucker-brings-southern-style-to-metropolitan-buffalo\/"},"modified":"2015-08-29T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2015-08-29T00:00:00","slug":"darius-rucker-brings-southern-style-to-metropolitan-buffalo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.nysmusic.com\/2015\/2015\/08\/29\/darius-rucker-brings-southern-style-to-metropolitan-buffalo\/","title":{"rendered":"Darius Rucker Brings Southern Style to Metropolitan Buffalo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Not many bands are worth fighting the traffic to get to the<a href=\"https:\/\/nysmusic.com\/2014\/06\/04\/dave-matthews-band-rolls-into-darien-lake-performing-arts-center-on-june-11th\/\"> Darien Lake Performing Arts Center.<\/a> But Friday night was worth the battle when Darius Rucker performed to a nearly sold out crowd.<\/p>\n<p>Rucker, on tour promoting his newest CD &#8220;Southern Style,&#8221; opened his set with &#8220;Lighter Up,&#8221; Strapping on his guitar, Rucker said, &#8220;Let&#8217;s go old school,&#8221; and played &#8220;Time.&#8221; Here and there he added &#8220;Only Wanna Be With You,&#8221; &#8220;Hold My Hand&#8221; and &#8220;Let Her Cry&#8221; from his Hootie and the Blowfish days, which the audience loved.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-85732 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.nysmusic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_6507-500x333.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_6507\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Rucker played covers of Blackstreet&#8217;s &#8220;No Diggity,&#8221; which the set could have done without. A highlight came when Rucker had the Brothers Osborne and Brett Eldredge, his opening acts, join him on stage for a rendition of &#8220;Hold My Hand.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rucker ended his set with the upbeat &#8220;Homegrown Honey,&#8221; with shadows of a cornfield projected on the backdrop. For part of his encore, he performed \u201cWagon Wheel\u201d and had the whole crowd sing the last verse.<\/p>\n<p>The opening act was the Thousand Horses has a country rock vibe to them. They were heating up an already warm night when they sang their rising single \u201cSmoke\u201d to a packed amphitheater.<\/p>\n<p>Brothers Osborne. Their music, while country, has a certain air that gives it a more modern feel thanks to the guitar playing by brother John Osborne \u2014 most definitely a talented musician \u2014 with brother TJ at the vocals.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-85739 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.nysmusic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/DSC_6647-500x333.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_6647\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Following was Brett Eldredge, another up-and-coming country singer. Performing his &#8220;Lose My Mind,&#8221; Eldredge had the crowd on their feet and rocking out and, perhaps, making some of the women lose their minds.<\/p>\n<p>This concert brought many genres of people under one roof.
