  • Saranac Lake’s Winter Carnival 2015

    Wintercarnival2015222NOW2The Waterhole Upstairs Music Lounge will be the place to be during the 119th Saranac Lake Winter Carnival in February 2015. The north country tradition that leads back to the 1800s, when Saranac Lake was a healing place for tuberculosis sufferers, who sought rejuvenation. Locals relished in any opportunity to celebrate health and well-being throughout each season, the traditions continue today with a wide range of events and activities.

    A definite highlight of these shows will be the Saranac Lake based, Blind Owl Band, who are returning to touring after a six month break. Fans are excited to see these hometown mountain music folks get down.

  • The Grateful Dead Announce ‘Fare Thee Well’ tour in Celebration of 50th Anniversary

    After much gossip and speculation, this morning, Deadheads everywhere received the confirmation they had been waiting for; The four core members of the Grateful Dead will reunite for their Fare Thee Well: Celebrating 50 years of the Grateful Dead tour. The event will take place for a three-night run at Chicago’s Soldier Field, July 3, 4 & 5. Appearing with the original four members each night will be, Trey Anastasio, Bruce Hornsby and Jeff Chimenti.

    The announcement came in a video by Trixie Garcia, founding member Jerry Garcia’s daughter. Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead nearly twenty-years to the day, of the last Grateful Dead show, which also took place at Soldier Field. These concerts will mark the Grateful Dead members’ final performance together, fans are illuminated with joy over the opportunity to celebrate with the band.

    Tickets will be available through the traditional tickets by mail service on a first come first served basis, beginning on January 20. An online pre-sale through Dead Online Ticketing on Feb. 12, followed by a regular onsale via Ticketmaster Feb. 14. Detailed ticket info can be found at Dead50.net.

  • St. Vincent Announces Reissue of ‘St. Vincent’ album

    St. Vincent albumManhattan based experimental musician Annie Clark, more commonly known by her stage name, St. Vincent, announced that she plans to reissue her newest album, St. Vincent, as a deluxe edition with five new songs, set to launch on Feb. 10.

    St. Vincent said that alongside the unreleased songs, the reissue will contain remixes as well as digitized versions of “Pieta” and “Sparrow” which previously were only officially released on vinyl. She also said that one new title will be “Bad Believer.”

    The reissue will be available through St. Vincent, iTunes, and retailers.

  • The Blind Owl Band Returns to Tour in 2015

    2-14-15-Waterhole-Saranaclake-NY-WinterCarnvalThe Blind Owl Band is back from a six month break from touring, and they are back in full force. With a 2015 winter tour schedule that will cover NY, VT, NH and PA this February, the band is excited to be back.

    The tour will kick off with their appearance at the 119th Winter Carnival in Saranac Lake at the Waterhole, on Feb. 14 with special guests, Swampcandy. Doors open at 9pm and the show begins at 10pm. Grab advanced tickets for $10.00, on sale now at the Waterhole.

  • Festy News: 2015 Governors Ball Announces Impressive Lineup With Big Names

    Founders Entertainment is at it again bringing a remarkable mix of artists to New York City for the 3-day Governors Ball Music Festival held June 5-7, 2015 on Randall’s Island.

    Last year’s GovBall was a huge success with an eclectic mix of close to 70 bands mostly in the indie rock and pop genres with a sprinkling of other sounds as well. With the 2015 lineup announced this week there are no doubts that this year will be even better. “It’ll be one hell of a party,” Jordan Wolowitz, a partner with Founders Entertainment, added in a statement regarding the announcement of the lineup.

    It’s not clear who will be headlining each of the three days just yet, but with this year’s roster it could be anybody’s guess who will serenade the day into the night. Some of the notable acts include The Black Keys, The Decemberists, DeadMau5, Drake, St. Vincent and Florence + The Machine. Check out the full lineup in the poster and video below.     The festival organizers are doing even more this year to build a better experience for attendees, including RFID wristbands as a cashless option for those who prefer to not hassle with cash or credit cards on site.
