With summer in the rear view mirror and autumn quickly approaching, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center<\/a>\u2019s concert season was winding down. Apparently, thousands of Kid Rock, ZZ Top, and Uncle Kracker fans didn\u2019t get the memo.<\/p>\n

The mostly Gen- X crowd sported bandanas, faded blue jeans and American flag T-shirts. \u201cBlue collar\u201d was definitely the evening\u2019s required dress code. Many stood in line to have their photo taken on a brand new Harley motorcycle while others waited to try free samples of good ole\u2019 American whiskey. The crowd, though not one the summer\u2019s largest, was certainly the most patriotic!<\/p>\n

Robert James Ritchie, aka Kid Rock, began his career as a hip hop and rap performer. Evidence of this was heard in his performance of the rap-rock single \u201cBawitdaba\u201d which originally came out in 1998. Rock progressed through the evening, singing more of his gritty, in-your-face tunes including \u201cDevil Without a Cause\u201d and the hit single \u201cAmerican Bad Ass\u201d. Other crowd favorites included \u201cCocky\u201d and \u201cAll Summer Long\u201d and the country ballad \u201cPicture\u201d.<\/p>\n

Southern blues-rock icons ZZ Top<\/a> opened the show. With their infamous long beards (except for drummer, Frank Beard, ironically) and purple guitars, ZZ Top performed one hit after another. Among them were the classics \u201cSharp Dressed Men\u201d, \u201cCheap Sunglasses\u201d, \u201cLa Grange\u201d, and \u201cLegs\u201d.<\/p>\n

American rocker Uncle Kracker also provided support performing an early 30-minute set. Highlights included \u201cFollow Me\u201d and \u201cDrift Away\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
